Survey Results about Gen Z Employees?
According to a survey by ResumeBuilder.com, hiring managers are steering away from Gen Z (also called “Zoomers”) because of their lack of socialization knowledge and skills. The survey included nearly 800 hiring managers and revealed the following disconcerting results:
30% said they have had to fire a GenZ-er within a month after hire;
94% reported that they “acted inappropriately” during the interview, including asking for too much money, not having communication skills, not seeming engaged, dressing inappropriately, and falling short on eye contact;
The general analysis is that the isolation of COVID-19 deprived them of the opportunity to learn many of those skills, including remote/hybrid environments in college and early employment. As a result, developing effective communication, handling constructive criticism and just having examples to follow have all suffered.
Consequently, companies are providing Zoomers with mentorship programs and even etiquette training. In a 2023 survey, ResumeBuilder.com found that 45% of companies already offered etiquette training, and another 18% were planning to do so this year.
