Harassment Costly to Snapchat

Snapchat has agreed to a settlement in the amount of $15 million as resolution of a class-action lawsuit brought by female employees. The company was accused of enabling an environment of discrimination against and harassment of female employees, retaliation against those who complained, and ignoring legitimate complaints or only paying them lip service. The $15 million is to be distributed among the affected employees. In addition to the monetary settlement, Snapchat is obligated to institute mandatory training against harassment and discrimination plus a formal reporting process and periodic audits of company-wide status in this regard.
