Employee Communication Remains Critical

According to the CEO of Randstad [staffing agency], “It’s crucial that employers communicate regularly with talent about their wants and needs, whether that be flexible work, career aspirations or learning and development opportunities.” According to a study of 27,000 workers conducted in January, 56% of workers consider themselves to be ambitious, but 47% say they are not looking to “climb the ladder” or progress within their current employers, rather preferring to stay in a role they like. The developing focus among employees focuses on work-life balance, flexibility, equity, belonging and upskilling. In separate, complementary data “cuts,” work-life balance rated 93% positive, schedule flexibility 81%, and ambition 70%; also, training and development earned 72% approval, and about 30% expressed in inclination to quit if they could not get training to equip them for future possibilities (e.g., in AI).
