Use of generative artificial intelligence has increase in the legal profession from under 20% in 2023 to nearly 80% in 2024, according to a legal-field publication. While the federal government has yet to promulgate regulations, they are working on them. A number of states have already done so, led by California, as noted above. Two legal AI software startups have been very successful in raising initial capital, so employers need to be ready to cope with the output and push back if the results don’t seem reasonable – since we keep hearing about strange outputs from various AI programs. It has been noted that AI is also making document fraud easier, meaning employers have to be more vigilant.
